These lightweight water resistant caps come in very handy on the water and when trying to pack an already over full suitcase. One size fits all. They've been road tested by members of The Fly Fishing DVD crew, and given the thumbs up as they are very comfortable and easily adjusted (so they won’t blow off in boats!), and the broader than usual brim and fold down flap gives excellent sun protection. Essential for polaroiding.
CHRISTMAS
ISLAND BONES
Christmas Island, out in the wild, wide,
blue yonder of the mid-Pacific, is one
of the great fishing destinations of
the world. Especially famous for its
superlative bonefish action. the vast,shallow
flats of the world’s largest coral
atoll teem with these wonderful sport
fish. It’s all sight fishing,
often in glassy conditions in ankle
deep water. even small bones take you
well into the backing. Could this be
a fly fisher’s heaven on earth?
WEIPA FLATS
Most fly fishermen will tell you that
sight casting for tailing fish in shallow
water is the pinnacle of the sport.
When those fish are big bruising sweetlip
(also known as ‘Blue Bastards’)
you have a recipe for some thrilling
action. Peter Morse and guide Alan Philliskirk
find a quiet corner on Cape York that
teems with these fish... The results
are spectacular. Bonus - step by step
fly tying instructions.
BAITFISH
& PREDATORS
Peter Morse and friends travel to the
flats on the inside of the largest sand
island in the world. This region is
renowned for its variety of highly prized
sport fish due to the pristine habitat
and vast bait schools. Witness exciting,
visual flats action on indigenous Queenfish
through the high tide, then head offshore
on the falling tide to mix it with scad
and tuna in a feeding frenzy. Peter
always has a second outfit rigged and
ready when fishing the saltwater, and
his preparation bears fruit as he sight
casts to a 30 pound Cobia. Hot action
- great fun and great tips.
THREADFIN SALMON The places where rivers
meet the sea are rich in marine life
- if you get there on the right tide.
Peter Morse is taken to one such place
by guide Mark Bargenquast to witness
a spectacular sight that few, if any,
of the waterways regular users have
seen. ‘Matching the hatch’
is not an option when 100cm plus Threadfin
Salmon are feeding on tiny jelly prawns.
Sightfishing to make your heart stop,
and speed to make the fly line boil
water! Bonus - tying the ‘black
and barred ’ fly.
MONSTER
TROUT
Truly memorable captures come along
only rarely in any angler’s lifetime.
In this episode, Peter Morse lands one
of the biggest brown trout to be taken
on fly in Australia since the heydays
of Lake Pedder. This massive sea-runner,
from the wilds of the Arthur River in
western Tasmania, has to be seen to
be believed.
As a bonus, Murray ‘Muz’
Wilson shows exactly how to tie the
fly on which it was caught ... Priceless!
HIGHLAND LAKE
Tasmania is Australia’s island
state in the frigid Southern Ocean,
and is well known for the quality of
its trout fishery and the skills required
to consistently catch fish. The wild
brown trout there have have the reputation
of being amongst the hardest of all
to catch. Peter joins a local guide
to fish a highland lake for these elusive
trout.
SMALL STREAMS
The Alpine country contains the major
fisheries for trout in Australia. Along
with its huge reservoirs and large rivers,
it has a patchwork of clear running
small streams that are full of life.
These are places for dry flies and fine
light rods.
BACK COUNTRY TROUT
Ask a trout fisherman with experience
in New Zealand’s South Island
where to fish, and the answer will invariably
be “anywhere there’s water”.
Ask them how to fish and it’s
a whole new world of knowledge and experience.
Join Peter Morse as he fishes with guide
Nigel Birt on some rivers and streams
where the fish are plentiful but tricky
and the lessons are many and are freely
passed on as they catch some ripper
trout. Bonus - learn to tie the Bead
head Pheasant Tail nymph.
Knot
tying is an important skill worth learning
properly. With good knots you can fish
with confidence.
ARBOR TO FLY
In this instructional DVD, Peter Morse
takes you through the knotting system
he has simplified and perfected through
his many years of fly fishing experience.
With the aid of animated graphics, Peter
demonstrates the essential connections
you will need for all your fresh and
saltwater fly fishing needs.
Peter will show you in detail how to
connect:
- The backing to the reel
- The backing to the fly line
- The fly line to the leader
- The leader to fly

The Artist & the Fly Fisher is an artistic celebration of the fly fishers for trout in the highland waterways of Tasmania, Australia. This book is about fly fishing enthusiasts who requested that I paint their lifestyle up in the highlands of Tasmania. The result of 18 months of joining the fly fishers during the trout season is a luxurious book of art. The 128 pages shows my view of their world.
